Being a lover of the outdoors and an angler has provided me with many opportunities to work with Fly Shops, Outfitters and Guides, from logo and merchandise design to original art and mural work.  Here are a few examples.
SAVANNAH RIVER OUTDOORS
Savannah River Outdoors is a kayak outfitter located in Augusta Georgia.  After seeing the mural I painted at Westbrook Supply in Atlanta, they approached me about coming up with an illustrative logo that they could use to add some color to their website, advertising, and merchandise.

PROCESS:
Savannah River Outdoors were previously unhappy with the generic, clip art  look of the logos used for their website and marketing.  The owners wanted something colorful and illustrative that they could use on their website, as well as advertising, marketing and merchandise.  They provided me with a photograph they felt encapsulated the vibe of the Savannah River where they live, as well as their existing materials.  As with all of my projects, the work began with a series  rough sketches, which lead to feedback, discussion of details, and narrowing down choices.
And here is the end result.
MOSQUITO LAGOON FLY SHOP:
Mosquito Lagoon is a special place.  Nick from Mosquito Lagoon Fly Shop gave me a photograph he took from his skiff, and asked if I could come up with an illustrative logo design that captures that mood, as well as the vibe of the lagoon itself.  So I came up with a rough sketch including what Mosquito Lagoon is best known for: Mangrove Trees and tailing Redfish.  The rough sketch was well received by the folks at Mosquito Lagoon Fly Shop, so I was given the green light to move forward.

PROJECT SUMMARY:
Zack from Trout Wizard Lure Company asked me to come up with an illustrative design that he could use for packaging , apparel and other merchandise. Zack showed me a design he used for his catering business, a sketch of what his general idea was, and I quickly came up with a rough sketch.

The rough sketch was enthusiastically approved, and after discussing typeface and color options, I came up with a finished design ready for print.
HIGH FLYING FLIES
PROJECT SUMMARY:
High Flying Flies is located in Bristol, TN and is owned and operated by Jason Bromwell, a master fly tyer and expert fly fishing guide who also happens to be a friend and fishing buddy of mine.  Jason asked me to come up with a playful design he could use on packaging and merch that appealed to the “stoner demographic” of fly anglers.  His initial idea was an image of a housefly, but I suggested we go with an aquatic insect that trout commonly feed on, such as a caddis, stonefly, or mayfly.  After reviewing some rough sketches,Jason liked the  Mayfly idea.
PROVO FLY FISHERS
Provo Fly Fishers is an outfitter and guide service out of Provo, Utah owned and operated by Quinn Schumacher.
PROJECT SUMMARY:
Quinn came to me wanting an illustrative logo incorporating a cutthroat trout paying homage to the Provo River and the Wild West.  Quinn had a tight deadline, with his website launching in a few days.  I came up with a quick, simple logo for him to use as a placeholder in the meantime while we hashed out the details of this project.
EDDYLINE DRIFTERS
Eddy line Drifters is a Fly Fishing Guide service out of Arkansas.  Missy from Eddyline wanted an illustrative design incorporating a brown trout eating a streamer, Cotter’s Bridge on the White River, and the Airstream typeface.  After exploring a few different color options, they decided to go with Rasta colors.  Here is the finished product.

SORE LIP SOCIETY
Mitch from Sore Lip Society approached me after seeing  the Holiday work I had done for Postfly.  He wanted me to come up with an embroidery friendly design that incorporated the art of Fly Tying and the Christmas Holiday- a Christmas Tree Fly.  Mitch was happy with the work, and came back to have me design a Christmas homage to a classic Orvis design,  with Santa hooking into a monster fish.
BEER 4 CLEAR
Beer 4 Clear is a non-profit started by GoldenFly Fly Shop in Golden, Colorado, who donates 100% of their beer sales to river preservation efforts.  After seeing a "Foam is Home" design I did for the Cosmic Stream, the guys at Goldenfly had the idea for having a Mayfly sitting atop a frosty glass of beer, and here it is.
