This began as a small project For Paul Criscillis , owner of Criscillis Electric, a large Industrial Controls Company. Paul wanted a simple illustrative logo design that was to be silkscreened on T-shirts and embroidered on hats for his crew members. The subject matter was to be an old school power plant, complete with smokestacks blazing, reminiscent of the Battersea Power Station that graces the cover of Pink Floyd’s album Animals. We went through several iterations before landing on the final draft.

Upon review, we all decided that although accurate, the smoke bellowing from the power station was simply too much, conveying feelings of pollution and gloom. The solution was to add a clear sky with airy white clouds, with a bird perched atop one of the smokestacks, conveying a feeling of a bright, clean future that thrives in accordance with nature. Paul was so happy with the design that he decided to make it it his company logo henceforth, and had me come up with stationary letterhead, business cards, and time sheets, basically creating a new brand identity for Criscillis Electric.
